We’ll fulfill young generation’s expectations for a social transformation – Anura
NPP presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake emphasizes that the NPP will take responsibility for fulfilling the young generation’s expectations for a social transformation.
He emphasized this yesterday (08) while participating in the launch of the NPP’s youth policy held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.
Speaking further, the NPP leader said, “All of us have great confidence that the NPP can win on September 21. Today, our opponents are faced with a fate they never expected. They thought the exchange of power between them alone would preserve them forever. But by the coming 21st, that traditional exchange of power will surely end. Recently, Rauf Hakeem MP made a statement saying that I had made a statement against the Muslim people. He has an opportunity to correct his statement and express regret. If not, we will sue. Tissa Attanayake had said that processions would be stopped as soon as we came to power. Now, they are trying to stir up racism and religious extremism again. Even if Tissa Attanayake expresses his regret, we will take legal action against him. He was a person who tried to prepare forged documents. After doing so, he was remanded. A few days ago, big fake news spread that our Comrade Wasantha had been ordered to be arrested. Legal action will be taken against them. This ugly political game should be stopped now. We are taking every possible action against this situation.
A few days ago, I saw Ranil Wickramasinghe saying, “My friend Anura,”. It is an attempt to get favours from us. No matter how much you pretend to be a friend, under our rule, we will take necessary legal action against the Central Bank fraud. Investigations also will be conducted on the bar licenses he has given in the past. No matter how much he calls me ‘friend’, we will definitely conduct investigations into how LRC lands were distributed. We will also conduct investigations on his efforts to protect fraudsters in our country. Ranil, after September 21, you will understand what your friend is capable of.
The young generation of our country has been fighting for social transformation for a long time. Sometimes, it was a militant struggle, and at times, it was an ideological struggle. However, they failed to win the final victory. After September 21, we will accept the responsibility of fulfilling every expectation and objective that you had in that struggle.
The old rulers closed the doors to politics in our country. Just as property is handed down from generation to generation, our country’s politics flowed from generation to generation. The younger generation hates and rejects the politics of that generation. The NPP will make the necessary changes to show the new generation that politics is a place of respect and value.
When we see Sajith’s nonsense, anybody would know he is not even fit to be a local council member. He became a presidential candidate because his father was a president, and the same is true for Namal Rajapakse. Ranil is a presidential candidate because his uncle was the president. The national politics of this country are in the hands of four or five families.
It is the same with district and local councils. There are certain families in which the father is in Parliament, the elder son represents the Provincial Council, and the younger son a divisional council. These politics of family bandyism have brought about severe destruction to our country. We have assumed the responsibility of temporarily taking the political baton exchanged between these family generations and handing it over to you, the young generation.
We will not pass that political baton from generation to generation, and we will not keep it in our hands until we grow old and feeble. We’re holding it for a limited time only. As soon as we have fulfilled our responsibility, we will hand it over to the young generation of this country, and we will rest in comfort to see how you build the country.
We are not people who want to grab everything but are people who are used to giving up. What will happen on September 21 is not just a political change of power. Instead of the cynical politics our country has inherited so far, politics leading to an era of complete transformation will emerge on September 21. We have to work together these few days to achieve this.
Education is the way forward for our generation of poor and middle-class youth. Without free education in our country, you and I would not be here. Under the control of the NPP, we will make a significant change in education for the youth and children of this country. We will turn the sports field of this country, which is kept to a limited section of society, into a field that brings you health, happiness and excitement. The tourism business will be made into a developed industry that brings income and creates jobs for the country. Under the rule of the National People’s Power, we will clean this country in all aspects and build a rich Sri Lanka where you can enjoy a beautiful life that fulfils your dreams.”
