“We are ready to work hard to provide a beautiful life to the people,” says Dilshan Chamikara, the Colombo district organizer of the Banking and Finance Forum of the National People’s Power and the Secretary of the Bank Graduate Trade Union of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
He emphasized this while addressing a press conference of the Banking and Finance Forum of the National People’s Power held today (13) afternoon at the JVP head office at Pelawatta.
Speaking further, Dilshan Chamikara said, “The people of this country are waiting for September 21 to remove the rulers who have ruined the people’s lives economically. Professionals in the banking and financial sector, as well as economic experts and academics, are all united to make Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who represents the programme of the National People’s Power, win. The dreams of the current president, Ranil Wickramasinghe and Sajith Premadasa, who dream of becoming president, have been blurred. They are agitated that the victory of the National People’s Power has been confirmed according to intelligence reports and independent survey reports.
As banking and financial sector professionals, we understand this field well. The 2015-2019 regime started by looting the central bank along with Ravi Karunanayake, Arjun Mahendran and others. They damaged the reputation and trust of the central bank and this country’s financial system. The main person responsible for the foreign exchange crisis is Ranil Wickramasinghe. More than $12.5 billion in international sovereign bond loans was involved. Instead of taking bilateral loans at a low interest rate, Harsha de Silva and others who claim to be economic stalwarts and mature leaders participated in these financial crimes. The audit reports have revealed how Sajith Premadsala has criminally used money from institutions like the Cultural Fund and Housing Development Authority.
They also increased the number of employees from 16,000 to 19,000 under their control to institutions like the Electricity Board, which are said to be suffering losses. Ranil Wickramasinghe and others are also responsible for filling public institutions with their party members and turning them into loss-making institutions. Their friends were also appointed to the governing authority, including the chairman of those institutions. Although it was said that foreign investment would be brought for the Volkswagen factory, none of that materialized.
According to the national economic agenda, National People’s Power has prepared plans to attract foreign investments and increase state revenues. In addition to growing revenues, our plans also have ways to reduce wasteful expenses and reduce the budget gap.
The progressive people of this country have come together to help Anura Dissanayake win. No one can stop that victory. After the victory on the 22nd, we will all be united to make this country rich and work hard to provide a beautiful life to the people.
