It has been revealed that nearly 12,000 people were deployed to protect VVIPs in Sri Lanka in the past.
By now, it has been revealed roughly how those personnel were employed. 1,200 were assigned to the Presidential Security Division and 900 to the Prime Minister’s Security Division. Also, 5,400 more have been deployed to protect religious places, official residences, and VVIPs’ private residences.
Also, 2,300 personnel were deployed separately for the VVIP security division. Retired President Chandrika Kumaratunga had 61, Gotabaya Rajapaksa 30, and Maithripala Sirisena 121. Mahinda Rajapaksa had the largest number of people deployed, 194.
Furthermore, 140 were deployed for the judicial security division and 150 for the embassy security division. 1,950 members of the Special Task Force and 200 police were deployed for the parliament’s security.
