UNDP Resident Representative praises new government’s fight against corruption
Yesterday (03), during a discussion with the President’s Secretary, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Ms. Azusa Kubota, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) praised the new Sri Lankan government’s efforts to fight corruption.
They also discussed at length the continuation of the development projects currently implemented in Sri Lanka through the United Nations Development Program and the future cooperation program between Sri Lanka and the UNDP.
The Permanent Resident Representative informed the President’s Secretary, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, about the UNDP’s interest in supporting new development projects in Sri Lanka.
Ms. Azusa Kubota, who praised the efforts of the new government of Sri Lanka to fight against corruption, also pointed out the importance of digitising as soon as possible to ensure the transparency and efficiency of the public service.
Ms. Azusa Kubota explained the need to train government officials on digitization to ensure the proper implementation of these reforms and reiterated the UNDP’s readiness to support Sri Lanka’s digitization initiatives.
