Prof. Saman Senaweera has resigned from all his positions, including Chairman of the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Director of the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC).
He is reported to have submitted his resignation letter to the Minister of Science and Technology on Sept. 15, citing political pressure as the reason for stepping down.
Prof. Senaweera, a senior scientist who previously served in Australia, was appointed to the above posts after the new government assumed office.
