Rumours about former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's health and safety erupted on social media this week, with several posts falsely claiming that he had died from "head injuries". No credible evidence supports these claims, and Pakistani authorities have outright denied all such reports.

The speculation intensified mainly because Khan has not been seen publicly for weeks, and his family says they have been unable to meet him in jail despite repeated attempts.

Family Demands Proof of Life Amid Weeks of Silence

Imran Khan's son, Kasim Khan, issued a rare public statement late Thursday, demanding that jail authorities provide evidence that his father is alive and well. He said Khan had been denied all contact with family members, despite court orders allowing visits.

Kasim wrote on X (Twitter) that the former prime minister had now spent 845 days in detention, most recently inside a "death cell" with no phone access and no meetings.

"For the past six weeks, he has been kept alone in a death cell in complete isolation. No phone calls, no meetings, and no news of his well-being," he said.
He added that his brother and he had no communication with their father "in any way."

Kasim alleged that the secrecy around Khan's condition appeared intentional. "This complete darkness is not part of any security protocol... The Pakistani government and its masters will bear full legal, moral, and international responsibility for my father's safety," he wrote.

He appealed to foreign governments and human rights bodies to intervene and ensure:

  • Proof that Imran Khan is alive
  • Immediate access for family members
  • An end to what he termed "inhumane isolation"
  • Release of the PTI founder, whom he said was imprisoned for political reasons

Sisters Say Visits Blocked for Months

Khan's sisters, Aleema Khanum and Noreen Niazi, said they had been repeatedly denied access to him at Adiala Jail, despite visiting regularly for months.

Aleema told NDTV that authorities sometimes allowed only one sister to meet him, sometimes none. "Many times we wait outside for hours," she said.

Noreen told ANI that the family had been barred from visiting him for at least four weeks. "We don't know anything. They are not telling us anything," she said.

She recalled that Khan had previously endured three weeks of total isolation without electricity or reading material, in violation of Pakistan's prison rules that cap solitary confinement at four days.

"He is going through a tough time alone... This is the pinnacle of oppression," she said.

She also accused police of using excessive force on PTI supporters. "This is the first time in Pakistan we see people being beaten with no consequences," she added.

Aide Says Rumours Grew Because of Isolation

PTI leader and close aide Zulfi Bukhari told The Independent that the party did not believe the death rumours but said the speculation was a direct result of Khan being kept in near-total secrecy.

"We should just be allowed to meet him. That would end all social media speculation about his health or living conditions," he said.

He noted that the timing of Khan's isolation coincided with the government's push to pass major amendments giving lifetime immunity and extended powers to the army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

"They've cut all access to him at a crucial time," Bukhari said, adding that authorities may want to prevent Khan from issuing statements that could influence public opinion.

Government and Jail Authorities Reject Claims

Adiala Jail officials firmly denied all accusations, saying the 73-year-old politician is inside the facility and in good physical condition.

"All necessary care is being provided to the PTI chief," they said in an official statement, adding that reports of his hidden transfer to another facility were "entirely baseless."

An adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah Khan, also rejected the rumours. "This is absolutely wrong," he told ARY News. "His health is fine and taken care of. A team of doctors checks him daily and weekly."

So, Did Imran Khan Die of Head Injuries?

Despite viral claims and a circulating PEMH "postmortem report," no official confirmation or credible evidence supports rumours of Imran Khan's death. The Pakistan government insists he is alive, while the family says the secrecy and isolation are raising legitimate concerns.

Until authorities provide proof of life, the speculation is likely to continue spreading online.
