Further vigilance urged as Cyclone Ditwah moves away from SL

The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to remain vigilant as Cyclone Ditwah moves away from Sri Lanka, after wreaking havoc across the country.

According to a report by the Met. Department issued at 11.00pm on Nov. 29, further showers or thunder showers are expected in Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee district.

Several spells of showers will occur in Sabaragamuwa, Western and Southern provinces. Few showers may occur elsewhere. Very strong winds about (50-60) kmph at times can be expected over Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces and Trincomalee district. Fairly strong winds about (40-50) kmph at times can be expected over Central and Southern provinces.

Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture to the aforementioned sea areas until further notice.
