Sri Lanka to Host World CIO 200 Awards and International Tech Marathon in September
Sri Lanka will host the 2026 edition of the “World CIO 200 Awards & Roadshow” and an international “Tech Marathon” in September following Cabinet approval for the country to host both events.
The four-day World CIO 200 programme is expected to bring together more than 400 senior executives from over 50 countries, including chief information officers, digital transformation leaders, innovators, investors and business executives.
The programme will include an international conference, leadership forums, business networking sessions, investment promotion activities, business-to-business meetings, an exhibition and an awards ceremony.
An international “Tech Marathon” will also be held alongside the programme, focusing on innovation, youth participation, sports tourism and community engagement.
The World CIO 200 Awards & Roadshow is organised globally by GEC Media Group, while HTP Global Technologies LLC will manage and finance the Sri Lankan programme at its own expense.
Cabinet approved a proposal submitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Technology to host the two programmes in Sri Lanka, with the Government citing their potential to generate economic, tourism and investment opportunities while enhancing the country’s international profile as a technology and innovation destination.
