SriLankan Airlines Halts Riyadh Services Temporarily Following Airport Security Incident
October 10, Colombo (LNW): SriLankan Airlines has temporarily halted all flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, until 18 October 2026, following a security incident at Riyadh Airport and amid continuing assessments of the situation.
The national carrier announced the suspension as a precautionary measure, citing the need to evaluate prevailing security conditions and operational requirements before restoring services to the Saudi Arabian capital.
In a statement, the airline reaffirmed that the safety and security of passengers and crew remained its foremost concern. It said flights would resume only when assessments indicated that conditions were suitable for commercial aviation operations.
The suspension could affect passengers travelling between Sri Lanka and Riyadh during the affected period, particularly those with existing bookings or onward travel arrangements. Travellers are therefore advised to check the latest flight information directly with the airline before proceeding to the airport or making alternative travel plans.
SriLankan Airlines has urged affected passengers to contact its customer service team for assistance with their bookings and travel-related enquiries.
Passengers in Sri Lanka can call 1979, while those contacting the airline from overseas can use +94 11 777 1979. Assistance is also available through the airline’s WhatsApp service at +94 74 444 1979, which accepts text messages only.
Travellers may alternatively seek guidance from their respective travel agents or consult the airline’s official website (http://www.srilankan.com/) for updates and further information.
