Subway plans to open 70 new UK stores inside Asda supermarkets

The sandwich chain has expanded its agreement with the supermarket, with the new UK restaurants planned over the next four years.
Subway said the deal would increase the number of its restaurants in Asda stores by more than 50 per cent.
The company said Asda had expanded its portfolio to more than 120 Subway restaurants in the past year.
The Asda partnership forms part of a wider plan to double Subway's restaurant footprint across Europe, the Middle East and Africa to 10,000 by 2031.
That target also includes India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, according to the company.
Tracy Gehlan, president of Subway in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “We’re building on a strong foundation across EMEA, with significant opportunities to grow in both existing and new markets.”
She added: “Our ambition to double our footprint reflects our confidence in the brand, our development partners and the long-term potential across the region.
“By expanding in the right locations and improving the experience for our guests and franchisees, we can continue bringing Subway to more guests in EMEA.”
Over the past 18 months, Subway said it had signed six master franchise agreements across 14 countries in the region.
These span Central Europe, Azerbaijan, the Nordics, Iberia and Qatar.
From January 1, 2027, new and refurbished Subway restaurants across the region will use the company's Blueprint design and operating model.
Subway said the model includes breakfast and coffee, grab-and-go options and an evening offering called Subway After Dark.
