British national Chris Silverwood, the head coach of Sri Lanka’s cricket team, has resigned with immediate effect. Silverwood had been on the job since April 2022. SLC had extended his tenure in April until the end of the ongoing T20 World Cup.

He has also been a Former Coach of the England Cricket Team. As a paceman playing for England and country cricket, he has taken 577 first-class wickets in 184 matches at an average of 27.41, with a best of 7 for 93.’
Under his tenure as Sri Lanka’s Head Cricket Coach, the national team won the T20 Asia Cup in 2022 and reached the 50-over Asia Cup finals in 2023. Additionally, the team secured several bilateral series wins both at home and overseas. Amongst these were a home series win against Australia in the 50-over format and two away test series wins over Bangladesh.

It is reported that the letter addressed to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has been accepted, and the resignation has been announced with effect from today (27). Mahela Jayawardena, the head of batting training, resigned yesterday, and it is speculated that several other coaches will also resign.
Professional experts have resigned in this way, accepting Sri Lanka’s disgraceful defeat in the T20 World Cup being held in America, but none of the cricket institute’s authorities have come forward to accept responsibility in this way.
