A delegation representing the government of the People’s Republic of China and the Communist Party of China met the JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva at the JVP headquarters at Pelawatta on the afternoon of the 17th.
Yuan Ruidong, Counselor of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) 1 Bureau; Zheng Youya, Deputy Director of the IDCPC 1 Bureau; Tian Yuqing, Chief Staff Member of the IDCPC 1 Bureau, Li Pengfei, Chief Staff Member of the IDCPC 1 Bureau, Xiong Junquan, Vice President of Beijing Automotive Technical College (BITC), Li Kejing, Director of Vocational Education Institute, Lyu Xiaoliang, International Cooperation Manager of BITC, Professor Cao Jian of Chongqing Three George Vocational Education College, College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology, Chongqing BITC Three George Vocational College College of Animal Science and Technology Assistant Professor Zhou Ya and Chongqing Three George Vocational College College of Agriculture, Forestry Science and Technology Lecturer Liu Yiding joined the discussion.
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sunil Kumar Gamage, Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savithri Paulraj, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra, Attorney at Law Janaka Adhikari and Attorney at Law Madhu Kalpana were present representing JVP.
The Chinese delegation congratulated the victory of the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna-led National People’s Power. They also discussed further developing the relationship between the Chinese Communist Party and the JVP and the opportunities to share experiences as two countries and two parties.
Regarding the Sri Lankan government’s digitization, Clean Sri Lanka, and rural poverty eradication development programs, the possibility of sharing the Chinese Communist Party’s experience and providing the necessary facilities to exchange technical knowledge was discussed.
They also discussed allowing those engaged in vocational training in Sri Lanka to contact vocational training educational institutes in China and gain experience and education there.
Attention was also paid to supporting Sri Lanka’s agriculture, sharing experience in using technical knowledge and techniques used in China, and cooperating with Sri Lanka on such matters.
It was proposed that programs be prepared to train human resources in the industrial sector, especially in the agricultural sector. China has expressed its desire to develop the fishing industry and provide experience related to environmental protection and food preservation.
The delegation has expressed China’s willingness to provide necessary experience in sugar production and vehicle repair.
