Amidst scientists & scholars, NPP’s science and technology policy launched

The launching ceremony of the National People’s Power’s Science and Technology Policy Declaration is currently being held, and many Sri Lankan scientists, scholars, and scientists working in world-renowned scientific centres are participating.

Professor Gomika Udugamasuriya of Houston University in America and Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Nadika Ratnayake, a scientist at Hydro Biology Institute, Australia; Professor Ajith de Silva, University of West Georgia, USA; Professor Lakshman Galagedara, Memorial University, Canada, Professor Ajith Karunaratne, Saint Louis University, USA, Professor, Eastern Illinois University, USA Gopal Peryannan, Engineer Sanjay Edirisinghe, director of Cognizant Technology Institute of America, has contributed from abroad to prepare this series of policies. Their contributions and those of local scientists have made this policy a reality. In addition, Professor Oliver Ileperuma of the University of Peradeniya, Professor Gamini Rajapaksa of the same University, Senior Lecturer Nuvan Liyanage of the University of Uva Wellassa, Professor Nimal Chandrasena of the Botany Department of the University of Colombo, Senior Professor Krishantha Abeysena of Kelaniya University’s Faculty of Medicine, and Professor Sarath Malavipathirana of Sabaragamuwa University have taken the lead in making this draft of the policy possible.
The unveiling ceremony is currently being held under the inspiring leadership of these scientists and NPP leaders, including Anura Dissanayake, Harini Amarasuriya and Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.
