Ananda Wijepala is the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs
Mr Ananda Wijayapala has assumed duties as the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs at the Ministry of Public Security, located in the Suhurupaya Building, Battaramulla, today (19).
A group including the Public Security Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne, Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya and Justice Minister Advocate Harshana Nanayakkara was present.
Speaking to the media, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijayapala stated that he hopes to make the Sri Lanka Police a non-politicized public service, especially in line with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s wish and would further develop the Sri Lanka Police and support the President’s program.
Minister Wijayapala says that the people in the last general election gave a large mandate to prepare the necessary environment for the Sri Lankan Police to carry out its duties independently, and he hopes to honour this mandate in carrying out his duties.
He further said that, as expected by the mandate, he is committed to fighting bribery, corruption, fraud, drugs and the underworld.
He also said that the public’s goodwill towards the institutions under the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs will be developed, and all institutions will work to provide people-friendly services.
