Catholic Church refutes Maithripala’s allegations
The Catholic Church in Sri Lanka has denied allegations by former President Maithripala Sirisena regarding the mismanagement of funds intended for the victims of the Easter Sunday bombings.
Father Jude Krishantha, the National Director of Catholic Mass Communications, refuted MP Sirisena’s claim by stating that the Church has already distributed Rs. 500 million to the victims of the Easter Sunday bombings.
Undeterred by the allegations, Father Jude Krishantha reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to its principles. He announced that the funds were distributed via Seth Sarana, the social service branch of the Sri Lankan Catholic Church, and referred to a teaching of Jesus, stating, ‘Your left hand should not know what your right hand is doing,’ to explain the Church’s discreet charitable activities.
Previously, Sirisena had requested that the Church provide a detailed list of the recipients of the funds distributed to the Easter Sunday bomb victims.
