CID questions former ministers regarding drug racket
Former Ministers Prasanna Ranatunga, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, Roshan Ranasinghe and Harin Fernando have been summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department to obtain statements about substandard drugs brought to Sri Lanka and distributed to government hospitals.
It is reported that, according to an order obtained from the court, former ministers Prasanna Ranatunga, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, and Roshan Ranasinghe have come to the Criminal Investigation Department.
The Criminal Investigation Department has informed the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court on the 11th that they are also to record statements from 18 members of the Cabinet, including former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and former Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardene regarding approving a cabinet paper presented by former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to import 182 types of medicines under the Indian loan scheme under the guise of drug shortages.
