
Sri Lanka Cricket selection committee has named former captain – Dasun Shanaka as the vice-captain of the national T20 team.
Sri Lanka will begin a 03-match ODI series against Pakistan on Nov.11 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, followed by the Sri Lanka-Pakistan-Zimbabwe T20 Tri-series from Nov. 17 – 29 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
Charith Asalanka has been appointed captain for both the ODI and T20 series.
A 16-player squad for the Pakistan tour has been selected and submitted for approval to the Minister of Sports.
Meanwhile, Shanaka takes on the vice-captaincy for the first time in Sri Lanka’s T20 team.
Notably, under Shanaka’s captaincy during the Sep. 2019 T20 series in Pakistan, Sri Lanka recorded a 64-run victory in their first T20 match against Pakistan in 06 years.
The Sri Lankan squad is currently training at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota, simulating conditions similar to Pakistan, ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka next year.
The team is set to depart Sri Lanka on Nov. 07.
