Dhaka: Indian Medical Student Found Dead, Probe Underway

A 19-year-old Indian medical student, Nida Khan, was discovered dead in her hostel room at Ad-Din Momin Medical College in Dhaka. This incident occurred after she was expelled for allegedly cheating on an exam. Her family, residing in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, is devastated and has requested the authorities to return her body to India.
Dhaka police reported that Nida was a second-year MBBS student. She had taken an exam on Saturday and was expelled after being caught cheating. "We received information at 4:15 am and found the hanging body of 19-year-old Indian student Nida Khan," said police chief Syed Md Akhtar, as quoted by bdnews24.com.

Family's Plea for Assistance
The All India Medical Students' Association (AIMSA) has appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for intervention. AIMSA Vice President Dr Mohammad Momin Khan wrote to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, seeking help to bring Nida's body back from Dhaka. The letter highlighted the family's deep grief and their wish to perform her last rites in India.
Nida's family is overwhelmed with sorrow and is struggling to repatriate her remains. They have urged the government to expedite the process so they can conduct her final rites in their homeland.
Details Surrounding the Incident
According to college authorities, Nida returned to her room on Saturday night. When she didn't answer repeated calls, her classmates informed the administration around 2 am. Her room was unlocked with a spare key, revealing her tragic state.
A post-mortem examination was conducted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital's morgue. Police chief Akhtar mentioned that the Indian embassy has been informed to assist in returning Nida's body to India.
