Written criticisms of devotees have started to appear about President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s political speech while participating in the annual feast of the Madhu Church. The editorial of the latest edition of ‘Gnanartha Pradipaya’, a Christian newspaper considered the oldest Sinhala newspaper in Sri Lanka, is based on the political speech made by President Ranil Wickremesinghe at Madhu Church. The editorial “Madu Church and the President’s Speech” is based on the comments made by the Christian devotees who responded to Wickremesinghe’s speech. The editorial is based on the facts that were painfully told to the newspaper, stating, “Don’t let this disease spread to our churches”. At the end of the editorial, the author emphasised that these critical comments should not be accepted as negative comments.
