Retired Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police JMK Mark Gunawardena emphasizes that the Election Commission should use its powers and take immediate action.
He emphasized this while addressing a press conference of the Election Observation Center of the National People’s Power held at the JVP head office at Pelawatta this morning (14).
The Head of the NPP Election Observation Center said, “There are only seven more days left for the presidential election from today. According to the Presidential Election Act, the responsibility of conducting a free and fair election has been assigned to the Election Commission. The police and other public services support the Election Commission in fulfilling that responsibility. The victory of Comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is contesting the presidential election, has been confirmed in all parts of the country. The Election Commission has not done justice to the complaints we have submitted. A party was held in the main hall of the Sri Lanka Foundation in September 2024. This also remains a threat to change public opinion. Similarly, the Minister of Health had invited the government medical officers to hold a meeting at the ‘Water’s Age’ hotel. It had been held.
