Electricity of 100,000 consumers cut off for defaulting
It is reported that the electricity connections of 100,000 consumers who failed to pay their bills due to the increase in electricity charges have been suspended.
Sri Lanka Electricity Board, commenting on this, says that electricity could be restored if a part of the outstanding amount is paid. They also say that the outstanding amount must be paid within a certain period.
However, according to electricity consumers, they have to pay 3000 rupees in addition to the outstanding amount to get the electricity connection again after a power cut, and the Electricity Board will restore the electricity supply only after the total charges are paid.
