Fire-works at Bar Association
A group including the President of the Sri Lanka Bar Association has been accused of financial fraud, and it has now become a serious crisis.
As such, resolutions were passed yesterday (2) requiring all high officials to leave their positions for 10 days and allowing independent investigation of the relevant investigations. The Colombo Chief Magistrate Court Bar Association and the Colombo Bar Association have adopted this proposal.
Accordingly, investigations are to be conducted against the President of the Sri Lanka Bar Association, the President’s Advocate Kaushalya Navaratne, Vice President Nalinda Indatissa, President’s Advocate Savindradha Prashanandu, Advocate Nuwan D’Alvis, and Advocate Rashmini Indatissa. They have been accused of embezzling 24 million rupees received from Japan’s JICA.
