Colombo (LNW): Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Victor Perera has died at the age of 75. His death was confirmed this afternoon (16th) while being treated at the Colombo National Hospital, according to family sources. Perera was appointed as the 30th Inspector General of Sri Lanka Police on 12 October 2006 and retired on 03 June 2008. He also held the position of the first Governor of the Northern Province, making him the first ex-police chief to be appointed as a Provincial Governor.
