The Department of Railways has announced that main line train services will operate only up to Ambepussa today (Dec. 02).

Services on the Puttalam line will be limited to Kochchikade, while trains on the Kelani Valley and Coastal lines are expected to run as normal, it noted.

The Department stated that 18 trains on the main and Puttalam lines have been halted due to inaccessible routes at Polgahawela, Rambukkana, Kurunegala, Ganewatta, Chilaw, and Puttalam, caused by prevailing adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development – Wasantha Samarasinghe assured the public that there is no shortage of essential food items in the country.
