Inflation goes up again
The Census and Statistics Department announced Sri Lanka’s National Consumer Price Index (CPI) and monthly consumer inflation for October 2023 yesterday (21), the same day President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s 2024 budget proposals as the Finance Minister were passed. Accordingly, it is said that the inflation in the country, which was reported as 0.8% in September, has increased to 1.0% for October.
The inflation rate for the food category, which was reported as -5.2% in September, is also reported as -5.2% for October.
However,, the inflation rate for the non-food category, which was 5.9% in September, has increased to 6.3% in October.
