Kelani River water level rises further
Crew members of the crashed SLAF Bell 212 helicopter, have been rescued and admitted to the Marawila Hospital for treatment, reports say.
According to official reports, five SLAF personnel, including two pilots, were onboard at the time of the incident.
The aircraft, which was engaged in distributing dry and fresh rations to flood-affected communities, made the landing near the Lunuwila Bridge while on a humanitarian mission.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Air Force has appointed a special board of inquiry to investigate an the helicopter’s emergency landing.
Under the directives of Air Force Commander Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, the investigation aims to determine the cause of the emergency landing and ensure operational safety during ongoing disaster relief efforts.

SLAF Bell 212 makes emergency landing in LunuwilaA Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in Lunuwila, Wennappuwa.
According to Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyyakontha, the helicopter had four Air Force personnel onboard, including the pilots, at the time of the incident.
The aircraft was en route to distribute essential supplies to residents stranded by rising waters when the emergency occurred.
