Let’s build a country where children’s future is secure

Let’s bring victory to presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the upcoming presidential election to build a country that secures our children’s future; states Retired Rear Admiral Fred Seneviratne of the Sri Lanka Navy. He made this invitation while addressing the National Conference of the Retired Tri-Forces Collective held at P.D. Sirisena Stadium on the 4th.
Retired Rear Admiral Fred Seneviratne said, “Our teachers, senior officers who gave us orders, and those who operated with us are here. Here are also those who took orders from us. You and I are not people who did politics during active service. We have fulfilled the duty assigned to us and retired with pride. Except for a few among us, many people are in a great struggle for survival. The situation of the society has become very helpless. This country has collapsed in every field. The future of the children and the country has become uncertain. It is in this background that the retired Tri-Forces collective was formed. The aim was to support the National People’s Power to drive out the corrupt rulers and create a people’s government. As the first step, about one and a half years ago, Major General Aruna Jayathilaka was engaged in a discussion with a group of five. A year and a half later, we have more than 40,000 active members with us today at this conference. What message does it give?
The rulers who ruled this country until now destroyed our country. Those who claim to be executives have proven in front of the public that they cannot rule this country. The National People’s Power is leading a collective effort, in which all of you are crucial, to oust the rulers and rebuild this country. These are the indications that its leader, Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, will become the President of this country. All of you gave the stimulus to the National People’s Power to take a huge political leap. It is you who will bring the programmes and policies of the National People’s Power to the people in the upcoming elections. You are the ones who contribute to the process of building this country under a government of National People’s Power. You did not come here expecting any personal gain.
We have a noble purpose. You and I are involved in the heavy task of creating a government of the National People’s Power, which aims to take Mother Sri Lanka for a national renaissance. Comrade Anura Kumara, a person from the common people with an educated, broad vision and advanced programme, who is in line with the hopes of the majority of the people of this country, is to be elected as the leader of this country. According to my political reading, it is a national responsibility. It is an urgent need. For that, the opportunity has now arisen to use the skills and good qualities that you and I have acquired through military service. If not, those qualities will be buried unused with our death. By fulfilling our responsibilities, let’s build a country where the future of children is secure. Future generations will praise the decisions we make and the way we act. As responsible citizens, we appreciate the contribution of the retired tri-services to the collective, and we cordially invite the retired members who have not joined us so far to join us and be part of this crucial mission.
