October 18, Colombo (LNW): Litro Gas Lanka is preparing to strengthen domestic gas distribution with a new consignment of 3,900 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), scheduled to reach Sri Lanka today (18).
The state-run gas vendor said arrangements would be made to commence unloading operations promptly once the vessel arrives, allowing the imported stock to enter the distribution network without unnecessary delays.
The latest shipment is expected to support the release of approximately 350,000 household gas cylinders over the following three days, helping retailers replenish their stocks and meet consumer demand across the country.
Litro said it had already supplied around 350,000 domestic cylinders to the market during the preceding three-day period, including today, as part of its continuing efforts to maintain a steady supply for households and businesses.
The additional consignment is expected to provide further support to distribution operations, particularly as uninterrupted access to cooking gas remains essential for households and food-related businesses.
Meanwhile, the company has appealed to consumers to purchase gas according to their immediate requirements rather than accumulating cylinders unnecessarily. It warned that panic buying and excessive stockpiling could place avoidable pressure on distribution channels and make it more difficult for other consumers to obtain supplies when needed.
Litro has reiterated the importance of responsible purchasing as it works to maintain the availability of domestic gas throughout its distribution network.
