Pakistan de-escalation talks: Ishaq Dar speaks with Qatar PM and Indonesias foreign minister

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held two phone calls on Saturday with senior leaders in Qatar and Indonesia. The talks focused on current regional developments and wider international issues. Officials said the discussions also covered bilateral matters. Both conversations stressed the need for contact as events continue to change, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

In the call with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, both leaders discussed prevailing regional and international developments. The Foreign Office said they also emphasised the importance of urgent de-escalation. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace in West Asia during the telephonic conversation.

Urgent de-escalation talks in West Asia

The statement said the Qatari side welcomed Pakistan’s approach of dialogue and diplomacy. It added that Qatar appreciated Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy. Both leaders reaffirmed the deep-rooted Pakistan-Qatar brotherly ties. They also agreed to remain in close contact on evolving developments.

Separately, Dar also spoke by phone on Saturday with Indonesia’s Foreign Minister, Sugiono. The two discussed regional and international developments, along with bilateral matters of mutual interest. The Foreign Office said both sides reaffirmed strong fraternal ties between Pakistan and Indonesia. They agreed to remain in close contact as issues develop.

Foreign ministers meeting on West Asia conflict

These contacts took place before a planned meeting in Islamabad on Sunday. Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt and Pakistan were set to attend. Officials said the ministers would exchange views on the West Asia conflict. The Foreign Office framed Dar’s calls as part of ongoing engagement on the evolving regional situation.
