Police Clearance Certificate Online System Restored; August 20 Applicants Asked to Reapply
The computerised data system used to process Police Clearance Certificates has been restored following a temporary system failure, and applicants can now submit applications online as usual, the Police Media Division said.
Police Clearance Certificates issued by Police Headquarters are processed by the Clearance Division located on the 17th Floor of the Suhurupaya Building in Battaramulla.
Applications for Police Clearance Certificates, obtaining the relevant reports and printing the certificates are all handled through the computerised data system.
According to the Police Media Division, the system became inactive at around 12.50 p.m. on August 20. The issue was reported to the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), following which necessary measures were taken to restore the system.
However, applications submitted on August 20 were removed from the clearance data system following the system failure.
Therefore, applicants who submitted their applications on August 20 have been requested to submit a new application online.
The Police Media Division said the Police Clearance Certificate will be issued after the relevant reports are obtained in respect of the new application.
The Rs. 5,100 fee paid for the previous application will be refunded to the credit card used by the applicant for the payment, it added.
