July 13, Colombo (LNW): President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has conveyed his sympathies following the death of Qatar’s Father Emir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, paying tribute to his contribution to the nation’s development and leadership.
In a condolence message shared on X, the President said he was “deeply saddened” by the passing of the former Qatari leader, who played a pivotal role in shaping Qatar’s modern progress and strengthening its position on the global stage.
Reflecting on the late Father Emir’s legacy, President Dissanayake stated, “His visionary leadership and service to Qatar will be remembered.”
The President also extended condolences on behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka to Qatar’s Emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, members of the Royal Family and the people of Qatar, expressing solidarity with the nation during its period of mourning.
Concluding his message, President Dissanayake said, “May his soul rest in peace.”
