Colombo (LNW): President Ranil Wickremesinghe has declared plans to make Sri Lanka a year-round tourist destination, with the aim of attracting over two million tourists, including high-spenders. He assured businessmen from the tourism industry that a programme is in place to revitalise the sector and a committee has been appointed to implement the plan. The President emphasised the need for better publicity for Sri Lanka and highlighted the recent Independence Day celebrations as an example. The meeting was received positively by the business community engaged in the tourism sector, who expressed hope that it will lead to increased investment and growth in the tourism sector.
