Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says the government service should be digitized to streamline it and create transparency.
She stated this while addressing the Information Technology National Award Ceremony, held yesterday (23) afternoon in Colombo to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the Chartered Institute of Information Technology of Sri Lanka.
The Prime Minister said, “Our government has a vision to digitize Sri Lanka. The country needs a policy based on developing the information and communication technology industry and creating a digital economy.
The government focuses on creating digital zones centred on Jaffna, Matara, and Eastern Provinces. It also needs to create a relationship between international digital companies and local ICT innovators. It is essential to promote information and communication technology education, provide facilities, and provide necessary allowances for professionals.
The vision for a digitized public service and a more inclusive digital sector is a collective goal that requires everyone’s support. This call for unity is a testament to the inclusive nature of the digital transformation.
The chairman of the Sri Lanka Information Technology Chartered Institute, E. Alonso Dole, Secretary Sanjeeva Perera, and other award winners, IT professionals, and innovators were present on this occasion.
