R. Sambandhan passes away

The former Leader of the Tamil National Alliance and senior Advisor Member of Parliament, Rajavarothiam Sampanthan, has passed away.
He was 91 years old when he died.
Councilor R. Sampanthan passed away while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo due to an illness.
Mr R. Sampanthan, from Trincomalee District, has represented the Parliament since 1977 and has been the party leader since 2004.
He also served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament during 2015-2019.
