
The government has decided to modernize Sri Lanka’s judicial system by introducing an online case filing system for lawyers from 2026.
According to the Ministry of Justice and National Integration, the Supreme Court (SC) will begin implementing the e-filing system in stages from 2026, allowing legal professionals to file court cases through a digital platform.
The Ministry further stated that a digital case management system is already in operation, providing a strong technological foundation for a more efficient and modern judicial process.
It also noted that the e-filing facility will be gradually extended to the courts across the island, improving accessibility and convenience for both legal professionals and the general public.
SC to introduce e-filing system from 2026

According to the Ministry, a digital case-management system is already in place, laying the technological groundwork for a more efficient and modernised court process.
It added that the e-filing facility will be gradually expanded to other courts islandwide, enhancing accessibility and convenience for lawyers as well as the public.
