He emphasized this when addressing the occasion of launching the NPP’s Youth Policy at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium yesterday (8th).
There was a game that we were eagerly waiting for. We wanted to build a prosperous country. We struggled for it. We sought ideology for it. Now, we have only thirteen more days. Today, it has been proved that on that day, this smart youth would turn this country on a new path. It is what the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, filled with youth, indicates. The message that is given today is that the party of the rulers who destroyed our Motherland would end on that day.  Here are young people who are waiting to change the country. An unprasanna gentleman from the Gampaha district thought that he would be able to disrupt our work by changing the location given to us before holding this rally. Hello, unprasanna gentleman; we cannot be turned back by your teeny-weeny pesterings. We have proved it today in this youth rally.
With the energetic youth of this country, your traditional old politics cannot do anything. Remember that well. We have learned many things from the past struggle. Our fraternal bonds were strengthened during that struggle. Because of that struggle, a situation was created in the country that the likes of Ranil, Rajapaksas and Sajith never imagined.
One of the basic aspirations of the ‘struggle’ was to end family rule in our country. The second was to punish the racketeers and thieves. The third was to repossess the looted property, and the fourth was to change this system.
There were different ideologies in that struggle. Many people who clashed with our ideologies have come here today. We got only a partial victory from that struggle. All of us in the struggle, including me, should see it. We had energy in the struggle; There was determination; There was brotherhood. But we could not create one. What we could not do was build organized people’s power. Ranil and Rajapaksas used this shortfall. We are people who have learned on the job and learn from mistakes. That is why the people have risen together with the NPP to change this vile system; The young generation has risen. We have to build the organizational power that we didn’t have then.
After studying the lessons of the struggle, we have been engaged in this fight for two years. That is why we have reached a stage where we can fulfil the people’s wishes of this country. We were able to bring together people from all walks of life, including professionals, artists, students, women, youth, fishermen, workers, Sri Lankans abroad, retired military and police officers. That’s because we worked tirelessly to gain experience from the lessons learned. After 22 months of the struggle, we have now been able to build a vast people’s power and organizational power by gathering together all the progressive people, including Sinhalese, Tamils ​​and Muslims, which is beyond a mere political party. It is a collective work that we all did together. We are doing gigantic work through this power. We will be able to transform and lift this country into a new renaissance era. The people’s power we built has the strength to defeat the traditional power against us and build a new country.
Now we are a collective group of people. That is why we are advancing at a speed the enemy cannot imagine. We need a specific programme to achieve our goal. The youth of this country is ready for it. Today, we will present a programme for the 8.5 million youth of this country.
“Contendent youth – independent vision” is the theme of our youth programme. It is not just a document. A practical programme that makes the wishes of the youth of this country come true. We put it in your hands today. We will win this match in thirteen days and establish people’s power in this country. It is certain that Comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake will win the presidential election and that the rule of the NPP will be established in this country. We will certainly win and build this country.”
