An Independence Day celebration was held in Ireland in conjunction with the National Independence Day celebration in Sri Lanka under the theme “Rallying for National Revival.” This year, the Irish Committee of the National People’s Power organized the event, attended by many Sri Lankans living and working in Ireland.

The celebration began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the singing of the national anthem by all present. Ruwan Samaratunga, the Irish organizer of the National People’s Power, delivered the welcome speech. Somasiri Samarappuli presented President Anura Dissanayake’s Independence Day message in Sinhala, while Kandeepan Somasooriyasingham presented the message in Tamil. Professor Chandralal Hewage presented the English version of the President’s message.

Additionally, George and Harshani performed songs during the celebration.
