Swedish Ambassador meets PM

At a special discussion between the Swedish Ambassador and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, the Ambassador expressed Sweden’s attention to developing the renewable energy sector, higher education opportunities, and resolving visa issues.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and Swedish Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jan Thesleff discussed the issue yesterday (04) afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office on Flower Road, Colombo.
In a gesture of mutual respect, the Ambassador extended the Swedish Government’s best wishes on Dr. Harini Amarasuriya’s appointment as the new Prime Minister.
The Swedish Ambassador, Jan Thesleff, has stated that the Swedish government has focused on investments in Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector and food security.
The Prime Minister brought the child nutrition issue to the Swedish Ambassador’s attention and emphasized that although Sri Lanka maintains high health indicators in the region, there are still nutritional challenges among school children.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has informed Swedish Ambassador Jan Theslef about the higher education opportunities of Sri Lankan students in Sweden and the visa difficulties they have encountered.
Prime Minister’s Secretary Pradeep Saputantri, Consul General of Sweden in Sri Lanka Sanjay Sumantri Kulatunga and Director General of Europe and North America Division Shobini K Gunasekera were also present in this meeting.
