Swiss Ambassador meets NPP Leaders
A meeting between Ms. Siri Walt, Ambassador of Switzerland to Sri Lanka and Anura Dissanayake, the Leader of the National People’s Power, was held at the JVP head office at Pelawatta today (13).
Ms Justine Bollit, First Secretary ( Political Affairs) of the Embassy, and Vijitha Herath, National Executive Member of the National People’s Power, were also present.
Both sides discussed the current economic crisis and political situation in the country. Mess Dissanayake and Herath pointed out the oppressive situation the people in Sri Lanka are confronted with due to the heavy tax burden imposed by the government following the conditions of the IMF. Also, they drew the attention of the Ambassador and the First Secretary to the government’s move to postpone the elections, which denied the people their right to vote.
