The President attends “Colombo International Book Fair”
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake attended the “Colombo International Book Fair” today (28), held at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall in Colombo for the 25th time to celebrate ‘Literature Month’.
During the event, Mr. Samantha Indeewara, President of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers’ Association, presented President Dissanayake with a draft of the National Policy on Children’s Books.
The President then toured several booths showcasing local and international books and briefly interacted with the public present at the venue. The President received a warm response from the public. A large crowd had gathered at the fair, which features around 400 stalls this year.
Organized annually by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers’ Association, the “Colombo International Book Fair” runs from September 27th to October 6th, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall.
The event was also attended by senior academic and government officials, including Senior Professor Liyanage Amarakeerthi from the University of Peradeniya, Additional Secretary Udara Dikkumbura from the Ministry of Education, Director Samanthi Jayasuriya, and Head of the Department of Integrated Design at the University of Moratuwa, Ruwandika Senanayake.
