UN representatives meet PM
A meeting between the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Sri Lanka, Marc-Andre Franche, and Prime Minister, Dr Harini Amarasuriya, took place yesterday (22) at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The UN Resident Coordinator expressed his best wishes to the Prime Minister and expressed the UN’s agreement to support Sri Lanka’s development process.
The United Nations has given its support to Sri Lanka’s poverty alleviation program and digitization program.
The UN resident coordinator also stated that the current issues of women’s empowerment have been discussed, and the United Nations is willing to support the process of women’s empowerment in Sri Lanka.
Prime Minister’s Secretary Pradeep Saputantri, Prime Minister’s Additional Secretary Mahinda Gunaratne, the United Nations Human Rights Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dayani Mendes, the officers of the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office, Patrick McCarthy and Nethmini Medawala were present.
