US Ambassador meets Minister of Public Security
The American Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chang, met the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala and Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala at the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs in Battaramulla, Suhurupaya today (20).
They discussed strengthening diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the United States, and Ambassador Julie Chung stated that America hopes to see Sri Lanka become a developed country and will provide support for the government’s future development activities.
Further, she stated that she appreciates the new government’s efforts to establish law and order without political influences.
She also stated that the US was ready to provide full support for the suppression of drug and underworld activities and the necessary technical knowledge and cooperation to protect the security of cyberspace.
Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala, Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala and Ministerial Secretary Ravi Seneviratne welcomed the Ambassador and participated in the discussion.
