US support to strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy

The United States of America has agreed to provide any necessary support to strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy and to help create an export-trade economy.
The American Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, stated this in her discussion with the President’s Secretary, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the President’s Secretariat this morning.
The US Ambassador also presented the message of congratulations of US President Joe Biden on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s victory to the Presidential Secretary.
The American ambassador has also stated that the International Monetary Fund and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are ready to provide financial support to boost Sri Lanka’s economy.
The United States of America has also guaranteed financial and technical contributions to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s program to prevent fraud and corruption.
The US has expressed its agreement to support good governance and to provide support whenever necessary to secure Sri Lanka’s security.
The US also supports the new president’s programs to create renewable energy, export agriculture industry, and eliminate rural poverty.
The American Ambassador further said that the program of providing lunch for rural schools, which is currently in operation, will also be supported by providing it to urban schools in the future.
Justin Divenanzo, Deputy Director of the United States Agency for International Development for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and Christopher Gooch, an economic expert, also joined the discussion.
