Women get several hotlines
Several hotlines have been introduced to report various crimes As well as violence against women and children in Sri Lanka.
Those numbers are shown below.
Bribery Commission No. – 1954 for complaints about solicitation of sexual bribe to obtain any service
Women’s Aid Service to report physical and mental harassment in workplaces – 1938
To seek help from the Legal Aid Commission – 1938
To avail of support services of National Child Welfare Authority – 1929
WhatsApp number – 071 859 5443 (Police Bureau to Prevent Women and Child Abuse) to report any violence, including sexual harassment, in public transport services through videos or photos.
To indicate any form of violence against children and women – 109
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Renuka Jayasundara of Sri Lanka Police, in charge of the Prevention of Women Abuse and Investigations, has revealed that information can be given at the telephone numbers given above.
