On Friday, a suicide bombing at the Tarlai Imambargah, a Shia religious center in Islamabad, Pakistan, killed at least 12 people and injured several others; the attacker was stopped at the gate before detonating explosives. The incident occurred during Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit, and authorities are investigating the attack, potentially linked to Fitna al Khwaraji, with enhanced security measures implemented.

A deadly suicide attack shook Pakistan's capital on Friday after a powerful explosion at a Shia religious centre claimed at least 31 lives and left several others injured, according to AP.
The blast took place at the Tarlai Imambargah located in the Shehzad Town area of Islamabad. Officials said the attacker attempted to enter the premises but was stopped by security personnel at the gate.
Moments later, he detonated the explosives he was carrying, triggering a massive explosion that killed worshippers and bystanders near the entrance.
Police sources confirmed that at least 31 people lost their lives in the attack, while many others sustained injuries of varying severity. The number of casualties is expected to change as some of the injured remain in critical condition.
Rescue Operations And Emergency Response
Soon after the explosion, rescue teams and police rushed to the scene and began evacuation and relief operations. Ambulances were deployed to shift the injured to nearby hospitals in Islamabad, where an emergency was declared to handle the sudden influx of patients.
Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to gather evidence and determine the exact nature of the attack. Bomb disposal squads and forensic teams were also sent to the site to assist in the investigation.
Authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as they work to piece together details surrounding the incident.
Suspected Links And Ongoing Investigation
No militant group immediately claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing. However, police sources indicated that preliminary findings suggest the attacker may have been a foreign national with suspected links to Fitna al Khwaraji - a term often used by authorities to refer to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Investigators are working to confirm the identity of the attacker and trace any network that may have supported the operation. Security has been tightened across Islamabad and other sensitive locations following the attack.
Attack Amid High-Level Visit
The blast comes less than three months after another suicide bombing in Islamabad, where 12 people were killed outside a district and sessions court building. The recurrence of such incidents has raised fresh concerns about security in the federal capital.
Friday's attack also took place during the two-day state visit of Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan. He arrived in Islamabad on Thursday for official engagements, adding to the sensitivity of the security situation in the capital.
Authorities have vowed strict action against those responsible for the attack as investigations continue.
