El Niño Crisis Worsens Rapidly Across Sri Lanka

Reports indicate that the El Niño disaster impacting several districts in Sri Lanka is deteriorating rapidly.

To date, 161,451 individuals have been severely affected as high temperatures accelerate evaporation rates in major reservoirs.

The situation poses a critical challenge to the supply of safe drinking water and threatens to disrupt the upcoming Maha season paddy cultivation, which is scheduled to commence in early October.
