A New Coalition to Whine: Fractured Opposition Groups Re-Align Again

Source

A media briefing led by Professor G.L. Peiris announced the re-alignment and merging of several factions within the fragmented opposition.

This comes after numerous previous occasions where these exact same parties declared similar mergers and alliances. Currently, the grouping is attempting to organize protests claiming opposition to the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.

These opposition groups initially coalesced around resistance to broad judicial reforms spearheaded by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL). Following the Supreme Court’s consideration of petitions filed against the amendment, the opposition factions have been reduced to a state of desperation, resorting to public protests to maintain relevance.
