India Sends Anti-TB Medicines to Sri Lanka as China Backs Bridge Reconstruction
September 29, Colombo (LNW): India has delivered around three tonnes of anti-tuberculosis medicines to Sri Lanka, with the consignment flown into Colombo aboard an Indian Air Force C-130J aircraft yesterday (28).
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said the shipment was part of New Delhi’s continuing assistance to Sri Lanka’s public health sector. The latest delivery adds to wider Indian support for the country’s recovery and essential services.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka and China have moved ahead with a separate post-cyclone infrastructure initiative aimed at rebuilding bridges damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.
An implementation agreement signed in Colombo yesterday (28) covers the reconstruction of 14 bridges. Chinese assistance will initially focus on nine structures under an emergency phase, with the wider programme intended to restore transport links affected by the cyclone.
