All Is Set for the Rajapaksas Now
Political analysts point out that the fake opposition to Ranil Wickremesinghe and the pseudo-patriotism staged by the Mahinda Rajapaksa family and their promotional teams have come to an end.
Analysts highlight that during the early stages of Rajapaksa rule, they wore a cloak of patriotism while carrying out aggressive anti-Ranil and anti-UNP propaganda before the public. During that period, both parties shielded each other from financial crimes and other criminal allegations. Ultimately, this mutual understanding was openly confirmed when Ranil Wickremesinghe was elected President with the votes of SLPP MPs.
Similarly, while repeatedly claiming that the LTTE was re-emerging on various occasions, former high-ranking LTTE members such as Karuna Amman, Pillayan, Daya Master, and Kumaran Pathmanathan were made part of Rajapaksa family politics. Marking the pinnacle of this strategy, Archchuna Ramanathan, who openly declared Prabhakaran as his god, was also integrated into the Rajapaksa family’s political fold. Political analysts further note that currently, individuals facing investigations into various criminal allegations have ended up becoming members of the Rajapaksa family’s political circle.
