The leader of the National People’s Power, Anura Dissanayake, has filed a defamation case against the General Secretary of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Sagara Kariyawasam and the party’s member of parliament, Tissa Kuttiarachchi, who had planned and launched smear attacks on Anura Dissanayake, with the intention of defamation. Lawyers Upul Kumarapperuma, Duvini Godagama and Terisha Vedaarachchi appear for Anura Dissanayake. The case was filed yesterday (13th) under No. DMR/02065/2023 in the Colombo District Court regarding a statement made with malice and defamation without any basis. Also, a media institution has been held accountable in the same petition for publishing statements of the accused without investigating the facts.
